Advent & Christmas

In the Episcopal Church, Advent is the first season of the liturgical year. It is a time of waiting and preparation for the birth of Jesus, a time of prayerful yearning for Emmanuel, “God with us.” Although we understand Jesus was born in a Bethlehem manger more than 2000 years ago, we also long for Christ to be born more fully in our hearts and the world as we await his return. Advent is a time of both remembering and anticipating as we practice hope for all of God’s beloved creation.

Episcopalians believe Christmas is a time of joyfully celebrating Christ's birth. The Christmas season lasts 12 days, starting on Christmas Day and ending on January 5,
the day before Epiphany (these are the “12 Days of Christmas” we sing about). The season includes Christmas Day, the First Sunday after Christmas Day, and the Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Advent and Christmas remind us that our greatest longing is to be known and to be loved. At Saint Luke’s, we seek the God who made us, redeemed us, loves us, and longs for us in return. In this life, we look for assurance that we are not alone and so we look to one another—to our beloved community and people—to be reminded that God is, indeed, here.

At Saint Luke’s, all ages will find opportunities to wait in faith with us through worship, formation, and companionship. Please join us during this time of hope, peace, love, and joy. You belong here!

Stewardship 2025

When we walk in love, there is clarity and purpose.
We move in alignment with each other and with our values. Walking in love is also something we cannot do alone - by definition it implies connection, community.
